US stocks closed lower on Friday, ending a volatile week as investors reacted to a key jobs report that influenced expectations of an interest rate cut. The Nasdaq dropped over 2.5%, while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones fell around 1.7% and 1%, respectively, marking the Nasdaq's worst week since June 2022. The US added 142,000 jobs in August, missing forecasts, with unemployment at 4.2%, leading to increased expectations of a larger rate cut by the Fed. Chipmaker Broadcom's shares fell over 10% due to weak sales forecasts, dragging down other tech stocks like Nvidia.

The US labor market showed improvement in August with 142,000 jobs added, a rebound from July’s revised figure of 89,000, and unemployment dropping to 4.2%. Although job growth was below the expected 160,000, the labor market remains resilient despite high interest rates. Economists suggest that while the labor market is weakening, it is not collapsing, reducing the urgency for drastic Federal Reserve rate cuts. The recent job growth aligns with trends seen in the last few months but is lower than the average monthly gain of 202,000 over the past year.

Tesla's Cybertruck, marketed as a tough and capable off-road vehicle, has faced criticism after videos surfaced showing it getting stuck in light snow. One viral clip shows the truck immobilized in just four inches of snow, sparking social media jokes and doubts about its winter performance. In addition, the Cybertruck’s stainless steel body, while visually striking, is proving difficult to maintain, as even basic cleaning products can leave streaks and dark spots. Owners are contemplating wrapping their trucks to preserve the finish, but delaying this can make restoring the look even more challenging. These issues raise concerns about the vehicle's practicality in real-world conditions.
