The 2024 U.S. presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is exceptionally close as Election Day approaches. The latest polling averages from sources like FiveThirtyEight, Silver Bulletin, and the New York Times show Harris with a slim lead nationally. However, swing state polls reveal Trump leads narrowly in key battlegrounds like Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, while Harris holds small leads in Wisconsin and Michigan. With razor-thin margins across critical states, the outcome could be determined by last-minute voter turnout and swing-state dynamics.

A Pennsylvania judge ruled to allow Elon Musk’s America PAC to continue its $1 million daily giveaway to swing-state voters through Nov. 5, despite Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner’s objections. Krasner argued that the initiative, labeled as a “sweepstakes,” was misleading and resembled a “political marketing scheme.” Contest winners were reportedly chosen based on personal stories, not at random as initially suggested, sparking controversy over data use and election integrity.

A ransomware attack on Columbus, Ohio, compromised the personal data of around 500,000 residents, exposing information like Social Security numbers and bank details. The attack, led by the Rhysida gang, resulted in the theft of 6.5 terabytes of city data, including emergency services data and surveillance access. Although Columbus claimed to have initially thwarted the attack by disconnecting its network, Rhysida demanded a $1.9 million ransom in bitcoin. Mayor Andrew Ginther later suggested the stolen data was likely corrupted and unusable.
I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. Equally appalling are the cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats. Such acts of violence will never weaken India’s resolve. We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.
